Montréal Mini Vacay
With my husband’s paternity leave coming to an end, we decided to take our first mini vacation as a family of five, and no better place to visit than Montréal!
We arrived at our home away from home, Le Centre Sheraton Montreal late in the afternoon. The big boys were SO excited to show Baby Maxi their favourite hotel! We enjoyed some snacks in the Club Lounge before heading back to our room to relax before dinner.
For dinner we chose a bistro called Addies which was a short walk from our hotel. The menu offered many choices, from poutine to pizza to pasta. If you are around between noon and 3 pm, check out their renowned smoked meat sandwich! From a fresh strawberry feta salad to a beautiful grilled chicken avocado burger, their fresh menu offerings were perfect for summer! Their flatbread pizza was a hit with the kids!
Back at the hotel, our next stop was Zac and Raffi’s favourite spot, the pool! They enjoyed a swim with Daddy, then a quick soak in the hot tub before bed!
The next morning, we headed to the Zoo Ecomuseum to check out some wildlife that are native to Québec. The animals at the Zoo Ecomuseum were either orphaned, rehabilitated or born in captivity. Having recently learned about the lynx in school, Zac was hoping to catch a glimpse of one. We stopped at several play areas along the walk, where the kids could imitate the animals by balancing on logs and flying on a zipline. Walking the paths, we saw many animals, from eagles and owls to bears and wolves, and of course, we saw the lynx!
That afternoon, we had planned a couple rounds of laser tag. The boys were super excited to give it a try! We arrived a few minutes early at Laser Quest Montreal and had time to play a few arcade games before getting suited up. After choosing their code names, Zac, Raffi and Daddy went to put on their gear. While I waited with Maxi, we were able to see their scores on a screen in the lobby. They played one free for all game and one team game. It was neat to get a print out after each round so they could see their stats. Their first experience with laser tag was a success and Laser Quest in a definite must!
La Medusa, an Italian restaurant, was our choice for dinner and again, just a quick walk from our hotel, making it a perfect choice with the littles. Offering Italian classics, cooked just like Nonna would, the menu options were plentiful. My husband had the classic osso bucco with parmesan saffron risotto and I had spaghettoni cacio e pepe, both were delicious! Both Zac and Raffi opted for spaghetti and the meat sauce was a highlight. We enjoyed mini Sicilian cannolis while the boys gobbled up some bubble gum gelato!
The kids had been dying to go swimming all day, so after dinner we went back to the pool. This time Baby Maxi joined them for his first swim ever, which he absolutely loved! The next morning was Father’s Day and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the Club Lounge, followed by one last dip of course! While the boys swam, this Mama relaxed poolside in a lounge chair!
Our next activity was a NERF Battle at Sports de Combats. They offer many different activities, but Zac and Raffi were eager to battle it out NERF style! After suiting up with safety glasses and NERF vests, we chose our weapons from a multitude of NERF guns and entered the playing field to start the battle. With so many guns to choose from, there were several choices that both boys were able to operate on their own. Sports de Combats staff littered the playing field with additional darts and there were numerous inflatables in the game area to hide behind for protection when reloading. Zac and Raffi can’t wait to go back!
Heading home, the kids couldn’t stop talking about all the fun that they had on our mini vacation in Montréal. Incredible accommodations at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal, amazing food at Addies and La Medusa, a great time exploring at the Zoo Ecomuseum and tons of fun battling it out at laser tag and with NERF guns made this trip one they are sure to remember for a long time! After this experience, we are sure to be back again soon!
